Eidolon's Wraith

Well, here I am. My new blog. One that nobody knows about. One where I can write everything I feel and everything I am and not have to worry about who will read it and who will get mad and who will misinterpret. One where I can organize my thoughts and my feelings.

I had a hard time choosing a name. My first picks were taken but I'm pretty comfortable with my choice so far. Eidolon's Wraith. I first came across the word Eidolon in a poem by Edgar Allan Poe. "By a route obscure and lonely, Haunted by ill angels only, Where an Eidolon, named NIGHT, On a black throne reigns upright ..." The word caught my interest and I looked it up and came across this definition, "eidolon (aidÓulәn), pl. ei-do-lons, ei-dola (aidÓulƏ) n. an apparition, a ghostly shape or figure [Gk=ghost]" Well, that's pretty interesting. Soon I was incorporating the word into my own poems, "An eidolon named death arrives, I see him drawing near. He looks into my soul-derives the absence of my fear ..." Then when I got my first personal computer in first year university and got exposed to the Internet for the first time, it came time to choose a username. Eidolon was the first username I picked and turned out to be my favourite one of the many I have since chosen. Unfortunately that username was taken when I came to blogger.com ... I was fed up with all those second-choice usernames I had before so I went in search of another favourite username. There had to be another good username out there. I came across the word Wraith and liked what it meant. Essentially it is the exact likeness of a living person seen usually just before death as an apparition. "It's like a person's soul" I thought. And since I had come to be known as Eidolon it seemed fitting that my personal blog .... the one meant only for me ... where nothing was hidden ... it seemed fitting that it be called 'Eidolon's Wraith' .... in other words, Eidolon's soul ..... an entity that is an exact likeness of me, but is not me. It is my feelings, my emotions, my thoughts, my soul .... my wraith.

I also came across the term "Chimera" which I recognized from Greek mythology and thought that it would be interesting to learn more about Filippino mythology. Thus I same across the being called Kapre. Similar to a Sasquatch, this being stands upright but is much larger than humans. It often is a tree dweller and is seen smoking large cigars. It has the ability to rip the skin from a person but is generally harmless. I liked the idea. In some ways it reminded me of myself ... particulary my fondness of climbing things, such as trees, my vices such as smoking, and the fact that people generally find me intimidating when they first meet me but later realize that I'm ..... well .... harmless. So in search of a username for blogger I adopted KapresWraith.

And with that I have exposed my wraith to the world while at the same time hiding it from those closest to me.
